XAT(XLRI)


The XLRI Admission Test prominently known as XAT is an all-India test conducted by XLRI (formerly known as Xavier Labour Relations Institute), a business school in Jamshedpur, India, as an entrance test for its management programmes as well as to many other reputed Top B-Schools in the country such as XIM [Xavier Institute of Management] Bhubaneswar, LIBA [Loyola Institute of Business Administration], Chennai, and many other reputed B Schools such as XIME Bangalore.

XAT Eligibility
Candidates are required to have acquired a Bachelor's degree under 10+2+3 system from a recognized university or a deemed university. Those completing their final examination may also apply.

XAT Pattern
The numbers of sections in XAT are three. They are Data Interpretation & Quantitative Ability, Analytical Reasoning & Decision Making and Verbal & Logical Ability. Each question has five choices. Total time given is 120 minutes.

After the objective test, there is an essay of 20 minutes.

XLRI Jamshedpur has about 240 seats in its flagship BM (Business Management) and PMIR (Personnel Management and Industrial Relations) courses. The PMIR course has been renamed HRM (Human Resource Management). Apart from XLRI, 60 other institutes accept XAT scores for selection of candidates to their respective programmes. About 1,03,427 students appeared for the XAT exam in 2010.

On the basis of XAT result, eligible candidates are short listed and called for Group Discussion, Essay and Personal Interview (GDPI) . There are more than 70 Management Institutes who select students based on XAT.
